Text: Topology by James Munkres, 2nd Edition.

Course Description: This will be a foundational course in general topology. My goal is to strengthen your reasoning and proof writing skills, while piquing your curiousity of this beautiful subject. Homework problems will come mostly from the text, but I will on occasion assign problems from other sources. We will investigate many concepts through interesting examples (and counterexamples!), and the pace of the course will depend greatly on you. Enjoy!

Prerequisite: Math 8

Evaluations and Grading: You will be evaluated on weekly homework assignments, two in-class midterms, and a final exam.

Your final grade will be calculated as follows:
Homework 25%
Midterms 35%
Final 40%

Make-Up Policy: Make-ups for exams will only be given with documented University-approved excuses (see University Regulations).

Special Days: There is no class on Monday, May 26 in observation of Memorial Day. We will have a midterm on Friday, May 2. The last day of class is Friday, June 6. The final exam is on Thursday, June 12, 12 - 3p.

ADA: Students with disabilities can get assistance from the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (845-1637). I am happy to work with them and you.
