MATH Summer Research Program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION




The program features:

  • labs on matlab programming.
  • labs on latex programming.
  • professional development workshops
  • research project.
  • seminars on different topics in mathematics.          
  • social activities.

       
 
 
During the first week of the program, the students will attend a short workshop on how to program in Matlab and LaTeX. 

The students will be divided into small groups and will be assigned a research project as well as a research mentor.

Every Monday, each research group will give a presentation on the progress in their research project. Every week, these presentations will be followed by lunch or preceded by breakfast.

Once a week, a research faculty will give a talk on some interesting mathematical topic.

The UCSB Mathematics Summer Research Program for Undergraduates  is supported by the National Science Foundation.  Additionally, this year two students will be supported by the Research Training Groups in Topology and Geometry program.
