• A Fun and Rigorous Introduction to Number Theory, was written to accomodate students with little background but lots of interest in pure mathematics. This text is appropriate for first or second year university students with minimal experience with proofs, for talented high school students seeking enrichment material, and for exceptionally motivated and gifted middle school students.

  • Theorems, proofs, problems, and tricks: a handbook for the mathematical competitor, was written for first year university students interested in the mathematical sciences and for exceptionally talented and motivated middle school and high school students. It presents a variety of topics and unlike some competition texts aims to give a sense of the mathematical theory underlying the proofs.

Mathematics is always challenging if one pursues it far enough. There's no shame in working hard, getting stuck, and asking for help. However, simply not studying is a sure way to fail: it is nearly impossible to "cram" for a math exam, certainly for a pure math exam. But, if you must fail a test, do so with dignity. Here are some examples.
