May 10, 2007	Mike Anderson, Stony Brook Title Boundary value problems for Einstein metrics Abstract: We will present a general framework for studying Einstein metrics on manifolds with boundary and apply this to several problems, ranging from the classical to "modern". On the classical side, the methods solve a well-known question in classical differential geometry - the local rigidity of isometric embeddings of surfaces in Euclidean 3-space. On the "modern" side, we’ll discuss Bartnik’s static extension conjecture and a proposed method of its solution. Contact person: Xianzhe Dai
