Circles bring mathematicians and
mathematical scientists into direct contact with pre-college students. The goal is to engage highly-motivated students in a collaborative environment and foster the exploration and discovery of mathematical concepts that are beyond traditional curriculum. Math circles were originally inspired by the Eastern European problem discussion approach to math education. |

The UCSB Math Circle for Junior High School students started on October 2, 2009. Next year we expect to also offer a math circle for High School students.
Meetings will be held from January 8 to March 9, on Fridays from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at the College of Creative Studies, Old Little Theatre, Room 164B at the UCSB campus. (Follow the link to see directions to the location.)

Foundation and private donations, and works in collaboration with
faculty from Dos Pueblos High School.
