Texts: Enumerative Combinatorics Vol. I by R. Stanley published by Cambridge

Course description. Math 260 is the course number used for special topics courses. This course will focus on enumerative combinatorics. More specifically we will try and cover a little bit from each of the four chapters in Stanley's text (the 12-fold way, inclusion-exclusion arguments, partially ordered sets, and generating function techniques).

Grading: The plan is to treat the course as something halfway between a standard first year course and a second year topics course. You're grade will be determined by homework assignments, participation, a project and a take home final exam. The weights of these are as follows.

Homework 20%
Participation 20%
Project 30%
Final 30%

Make-ups: Make-ups for exams will only be given with documented University-approved excuses (see University Regulations).

ADA: Students with disabilities can get assistance from the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (845-1637). I'm happy to work with them and you.
