Mathematics major David Hassan wins Trjitzinsky Scholarship

David Hassan is a Phi Beta Kappa double majoring in mathematics and physics with an overall GPA of 3.93. He is a returning student completing his studies after a tour of duty as an Arabic interpreter in Iraq. David recently was awarded the 2009 Trjitzinsky Scholarship of the American Mathematical Society.

The AMS received a bequest from the estate of Waldemar J., Barbara G., and Juliet Trjitzinsky, the income from which is used to assist students who have declared a major in mathematics at a college or university that is an institutional member of the AMS. These funds help support students who lack adequate financial resources and who may be in danger of not completing the degree program in mathematics for financial reasons.
